The following page explains how FoxSmartBox premium quality puzzles are created.

 

1) We explore art galleries, both fine art and modern art, to get inspiration and find the right image for the next puzzle. In the case of fine art, we verify legal rights, and for modern art, we buy exclusive rights directly from the artist or enter into a contract when an artist creates the art at our request.

2) Our designers work on the cutting scheme for the puzzle. This is a creative and complex process. We try to include as many recognizable shapes as possible, and they match the theme of the puzzle. Some "whimsies" are "buildable", which means a few pieces slide together into a recognizable shape and then into the whole puzzle. At this stage, few different designs are cut and tested to make sure the pieces stay together once the puzzle is assembled and there are no extra thin elements. Then each cutting design is ranked, and the best one will be selected. Once this is finalized, it moves into production.

 

  

 

3) As part of our weekly routine, we prepare carefully selected 1/4" plywood. Initially it comes in 4x8 ft sheets, but we don't make 4x8 ft. puzzles, yet. Therefore, each sheet is cut into smaller pieces. Below is the stock for 1000 + puzzles, try to guess how tall is the stack on the left?

  

 

4) Each piece is subject to quality control. We identify and mark any inner imperfections using a special light. These pieces will not be used for production.

Additionally, they pass flatness test. In the photo below, only the middle piece has passed the test.

 

5) Using archival quality inks, we run a few printing tests to achieve clear, crisp, and beautifully balanced colors on fine art paper. Next, using a special technique, the print is mounted to the prepared plywood.

 

 

6) After cutting with a high-precision laser, the puzzle must pass postproduction quality control. It is manually disassembled and packed into a premium quality magnetic closure gift box.

    

 

7) Lastly, there are few "skeletons" left; some are disposed of, while others may have a second life. Send us a message at info@foxsmartbox.com if you have an idea on how to use them. Our blue planet will benefit from fewer wasted items.

   

Because we do a lot of laser cutting every day, the largest available BOFA filters are used to keep the air fresh. Set of three for each laser removes 99.997% of dust and particles. Look how huge they are in contrast to your Miranda.
